Guide on How to Budget for a Wedding

Posted on January 24, 2022January 24, 2022 by globalneighbourhoods

Wedding budgets are not the easiest to make. Committees make this process more accessible, but it can still be challenging. The strategy comes with exchanges between the committee members as sometimes the weds have money constraints. Regardless, it is still possible to develop a working budget and make a wedding successful. Here’s how to.

  1. Work with the weds’ budget

A wedding is for two to tie the knot together. The prominent people and guests come to support them. That is why they are mainly responsible for the wedding budgets. But during this time, a lot happens, and these two have to be supported financially and mentally.

Still, the weds have to put forward the amount they have so far and how big they’d wish their wedding to be. It is essential to be realistic because this is where most millennials go wrong. Guidance is required from the experienced to lead these young ones in the right direction.

  1. Set up a working committee

A wedding requires a lot. First, you need a financial brain to set up a budget. Then, there’s a need for a mobilizer to help raise funds for your wedding and make the budget work. That is why you need a very influential committee.

After making open how much you have, you have the freedom to make a wish. The wish is often how big you want your wedding to be. Once you do that, the committee will estimate the financial requirements needed to make your wish a reality.

In most cases, the amount you have will fall short of your wish. The difference will be calculated, and campaigns will raise the difference.

  1. Implementation

Well, not always will you need to raise more funds. Assuming you have all the money you need, the next step would be to make the budget work.

Remember, the committee would already have put down details about the requirements for a successful wedding. Some of the pieces would include logistics, rents for hiring venues, food costs, and main transport of guests to the reception.

You’ll definitely need a photo session. These are extra costs that need to be planned for. At the reception, entertainment is necessary, and that will cost more. It is wise to find the best master of ceremony and an experienced DJ. But mind the costs as some charge extravagantly high. Strive to get value for money.

Before, during, and after …

This classification of events is essential. Costs must also be classified this way. You should determine what events will occur before, during, and after the wedding ceremony.

Remember, the committee will also spend some money during the planning stages. Therefore, there will be more expenses during the wedding, and all that should be made clear. This clarity of purpose is essential, especially in cases where there isn’t enough money to fund a big wedding.

More events will follow even after the actual wedding ceremony. And that means more costs will be incurred.
You can decide on some events or ideas to fit the budget as you plan. Or, in cases where there’s excess money, you can make additions to make the ceremony bigger and better.

  1. Stay realistic

Most of us may feel urged to go for more funds beyond our means to fund a wedding. Well, that will hurt you in the long run. So avoid living beyond your means.

A wedding is only a day’s event. You need not impress people for a day and stay indebted for the rest of your life. Stay true to yourself and be realistic. That way, you will only go with plans you can finance.

Be an active member of the committee and oversee all their plans. Do not feel obliged to approve what you do not want or can’t finance. This aspect will help you and your spouse get the most of the limited funds you have.
