The media can't be everywhere where there is news yet everyday citizen's can armed with access to the web via their phones, laptops etc. Journalists should have faith in their role in sharing the news. They do it professionally and with checks and balances (we hope) to ensure stories are factual. Journalists forget sometimes that they are 'brands' and when they adopt new communications tools like Twitter/Facebook/Google Buzz, people still know who they are and can 'trust' and 'engage' them and their information.
